We wanted to record a blues-jazz piece because Tristan had just bought this really cheap fretless bass called a "Saturday Night Special." We didn't have any real horns around at the time, so we processed toy winds instead. Tristan bought a better fretless bass in 1998, and he gave the SNS to our buddy Rik in Portland.
