Recorded January 1999 on analog 4-track at Kashimunji.
The "bass line" is actually the low E string on Phédra's classical guitar. We did the same thing on Louisiana, using a ukelele. Jeremy's balalaika was recorded backwards at double speed. This is another beautiful trick available only on the 4-track. By the way, the balalaika was a gift from Tristan's sister, from when she lived in Russia for a year. She bought it for next-to-nothing from a street vendor. Thanks Steph!
